Introduction

Throughout this blog and the next few months, I will closely be following the fentanyl epidemic through multiple sources. I will be examing the day-to-day tragedies that occur along with the politics/policies of it. Next, I have attached a little bit about the drug itself, enjoy. Fentanyl is a synthetic and highly potent opioid. In the right doses, fentanyl is used for anesthetic purposes. However, due to its potency and addictive characteristics, it is extremely deadly. It is upwards of 50-100 times stronger than morphine.  In the last year alone, over 110,000 people died from fentanyl in the United States. Unfortunately, every year that number seems to reach a new record high. Because fentanyl is so potent, it often gets laced with many other drugs leading to an increase in accidental fatalities. The more awareness, the better off people will be.
